Welcome Katie Jarret as new accompanist!

Katie began her service with us on Sun., Sept 20, 2026. Let us welcome Katie and thank God for sending her our way! 

Katie Jarrett was born and raised in Dallas, TX. She has lived with her husband, James, in Forney since 2007. Katie has a bachelor's degree in Piano Performance from Houghton College, NY and a Masters in Church Music from Concordia University Chicago. She was raised Presbyterian, confirmed as an adult in the Lutheran Church. She considers Zion Lutheran Church in Dallas her church home. 

Katie has served as a musician in several different denominations, most recently at St. John’s Episcopal in Dallas. She is active in the Dallas Chapter of the American Guild of Organists (AGO) and is working to earn the AGO’s Colleague Certification. The Colleague Certification involves practical and written components, evaluating organ performance, sight-reading, ear training, score analysis, and keyboard skills. She considers piano her primary instrument and works full time as an Accompanist for Forney ISD. 

Katie and James have 6 children, including Abbey (social worker in St. Louis and pastor's wife to her husband Chris); Robert (US Airman); Corrie Lise (senior at UT Austin): Amos (US Marine); and Helen (sophomore at FHS). There are also various pets. Katie is an enthusiastic supporter of the Forney Public School system, believes that love changes people, and that service to others is a pathway to fulfillment. 

Katie is not very good at: cooking, being on time, or playing video games. She is really good at: science fiction trivia, baking cookies, 4th grade jokes, growing houseplants, and music.
