The Rev. David Ivie is a second-career pastor. He had a career in business (mostly with Chili’s and Brinker International) before entering the ministry. He has served churches in Muscatine, Iowa and Garland, Texas. He began his service at First Presbyterian of Forney in February 2015.
David was born in Dallas and grew up in Forney, TX. David was raised Baptist and received his Bachelor of Arts in English and History from Baylor University. He became Presbyterian while attending Brite Divinity School. He received his Masters of Divinity in 2005 and was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament (now called a Teaching Elder) in 2007.
David is also involved in Grace Presbytery, having served on Presbytery Council as moderator of the presbytery’s Budget & Finance committee.
David enjoys music: pipe organ recitals, sacred choral music, Bob Dylan, and Bruce Springsteen. David tries to watch as many movies as possible and follows college football (especially the Big 10 & Big 12 conferences). He believes baseball is the best game God has created and continues to follow his favorite team, the Chicago Cubs, even before they won the World Series in 2016.
David’s wife Laura is a Registered Nurse and Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Dallas. Their three children Sam, Sarah, and Sophia attend schools in Forney.
